Chapter 6

The next morning, Amy woke up and realized that she had completely forgotten her Christmas shopping.  Then she remembered how much fun she had last night. She scribbled out a note to Shadow and left. Shadow woke up and found the note and then he remembered how much fun they had had at the theme park. He realized that he wanted to get her a Christmas gift, and after a lot of planning, he ran out the door and went gift shopping. He was back before Amy. He carefully wrapped her gift in beautiful gold wrapping with the biggest gold bow he could find and he hid it. When Amy got home, she went to see if Shadow was still there. She found him sitting at the table in the kitchen and carefully, she quickly snuck to her room and hid the stuff to make his gift. Then she walked into the kitchen.

“Hey! How was your day Shadow?”

“It was alright…how about yours?”

“Mine was okay—Hey! Can you help me wrap these gifts?”

“Sure.” he was glad he had something to do. There were 5 days until Christmas and Amy realized that she had to go to the Christmas party tomorrow. She was surprised that she didn’t really want to go without Shadow.

“Uh…Shadow?”

“Uh…Yeah?”

“Will you come to the Christmas Party with me?”

“Sure!”

She was a little surprised. “Even if Sonic’s there?”

“ESPECIALLY if Sonic’s there! I want to see that look on his face again!”

They both laughed when they remembered his face and then it was silent again.

“Hey. How come you didn’t go with him anyway?”

“Well…I guess…I just wanted to stay with you.”

“Why?”

“Because…no guy has ever treated me like you did. You’re so nice…and you don’t run away from me.”

Silence again.

“Ummm…Shadow?”

“What?”

“Will you go as my date?” she quickly blurted out.

He dropped his scissors and the wrapping paper and his jaw dropped. Their faces got red and they couldn’t look at each other. Did I just ask that? She wondered. Did she just say that? He wondered.

“I’m sorry!” she said as she got up and was about to run out of the door. He grabbed her arm. He turned her around and saw that she was crying. He put his hand on her shoulder and wiped her tears. “I would be a fool to turn YOU down.” He smiled and hugged her. She was overjoyed. And now she couldn’t wait for the party.
